Claire Sedovic Collaborates with The Greater Des Moines Partnership to Create Community Mural
This spring Claire Sedovic, has partnered with The Greater Des Moines Partnership in hosting a Spring Skywalk Paint-by-Numbers Mural.
Claire is a children’s book illustrator, art teacher, and has a studio space with Mainframe Studios.
The mural project created an opportunity for community members to be a part of public art. All were welcome to come paint a part of the mural, and will be recognized for their involvement.
Claire spoke with the Des Moines Register about the project and what it is like being an artist in Des Moines. "There's so much great public art in the Des Moines area. I don't count myself as being the epitome of that. There's so much more else to see," Sedovic said. "I think just having, not just an awareness, but an appreciation of that makes this place so much more vibrant and colorful. Just like being at Mainframe Studios, we need artists like this, we need communities like this. Part of that is all the people that are maybe not an artist, but those that still came out to help participate. And their support is so important — that's what keeps us going."
