STUDY | Central Iowa Regional Cultural Assessment

MAINFRAME News

Thank you to Bravo Greater Des Moines, Drake University, Capital Crossroads, The Tomorrow Plan and others whose dedication and vision lead to the recent Central Iowa Regional Cultural Assessment. As it states… “now is the time to build on the region’s strong social connectedness and desire to strengthen and build community with arts and culture at the center.” Mainframe Studios fosters this vision by developing a hub for creative culture through its nonprofit mission of providing permanent affordable workspace for artists of all disciplines.

With input from more than 800 Central Iowans though surveys and in-person meetings, the Regional Cultural Assessment focused on identifying ways arts, culture and heritage can help advance, support and grow these efforts. Here are four cultural priorities that were identified:

Did you know?2017 Americans for the Arts: Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 study showed that the non-profit arts and cultural organizations alone had a $185 MILLION economic impact on our region in 2015.

At Mainframe Studios we believe artists are not only a resource for attracting businesses and young professionals to the area. They are a vital source for generating new ideas, a skilled workforce, diverse connections, a vibrant economy, and social wellbeing.

Mainframe Studios has plenty to look forward to in 2018, and with data and advocacy such as this the future for creatives in Des Moines looks incredibly bright.
