Carly McCoy is an emerging artist and writer utilizing photography, drawing, and other intermedia to convey compelling, emotional narratives. Her work explores themes of identity, memory, and grief. She graduated with honors with a B.A. in studio arts and a minor in professional communication from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was selected as an Emerging Iowa Artist for the 2024 Des Moines Arts Festival.

McCoy’s photography was selected for Polk County Heritage Gallery’s 2024 Iowa Exhibited Show. She is the first-place recipient of the 2023 Iowa College Media Association award for “Best Headline Writing.” She earned 3rd place for Art & Design in Grand View’s annual Bifrost literary magazine (2023). She received 2nd place from the Iowa College Media Association for Best Print/Online Profile (2022).

She is currently working in multiple artistic capacities, including at the Des Moines Art Center. She is also involved with the Art Center's docent program. McCoy would like to continue working in creative areas of museum work, education, writing, or communications. She would like to someday attend graduate school for her M.F.A. or M.A. in art history or related museum studies or arts administration. McCoy's professional goals include showcasing her work both locally and beyond Des Moines.
